How to Use the Professional Development Opportunities Search Facility

Information on 2010-11 archived events may be accessed here. These events have now taken place and are for reference only.

This searchable database brings together events from all 6 Authorities within the consortium.

Finding an Event

You can search by four selections

Once you have decided on your selection criteria click on the Find an Event button to move to the next screen ...

Displaying the Events Found

This screen indicates the number of courses found against your chosen criteria. If no courses are found, click the link to return and refine your search criteria and search again.

Courses found against your search criteria are listed in order of category and indicate the name of the course, the level, the category, and the provider.

Click on the Event ID to the left of the course name for more details about the course and to move to the next screen “Selecting an Event”.

Selecting the Event

This screen provides additional details on the course including course leader (if known), course description, target audience, length of the course and additional details available to help you decide if this is the course you want to attend.

At the bottom of the screen is the list of dates the course will be run, this may be one date, or more than one if the course is to be repeated.

To express an interest in a place on the course click on the Event ID which will take you to the next screen ...

Requesting a Place

If you would like to request a place, you may either print this page and take it to your staff development officer or headteacher as appropriate so they can progress your booking in the normal way, or, complete the booking form once you have selected the course. When you submit the booking form you will receive an email from the Administrator for the Course Provider, confirming the details of the event you wish to book. An email will also be sent automatically to your Authoriser requesting them to authorise your booking.

Expressing an interest in a place does not guarantee that a place will be allocated and you should not book time off or supply cover until you receive confirmation from the Administrator that a place has been allocated to you.

Cost

Costs to schools within the Provider Authority(ies) are in accordance with the Authority(ies) internal agreements with their schools and this cost is indicated against each event. The charge to all other schools for 2010-11 will be confirmed on booking but is usually £80 per day or the cost specified on the course list if this is greater than £80. Schools and/or individuals will be sent an invoice by the Authority providing the course.
