Areas of Regional Working
The strength and success of Consortium working within the swamwac Local Authorities is as a result of the willingness of teachers, headteachers and professional officers to share experience and expertise and to contribute to development work for the benefit of all learners across the whole region.
A key element of the consortium working model is the use of existing professional staff working in groups to identify objectives set by each Authority but which can be delivered more efficiently and effectively by Authorities acting collaboratively.
There is no one way of working together that fits all situations and therefore swamwac has adopted a Continuum of Consortium working which provides the necessary flexibility to accommodate a range of situations and solutions.
In any instance where the use of Consortium working is the chosen method of securing improvement, such a proposal must demonstrate added value compared to Authorities working individually, and must recognise the essential priority of improvements and benefits for children and young people.
