Proposals to amend the requirements for registration of the education workforce in Wales

Please find below the link to a consultation document on proposals to widen the current requirement for teachers to register with a professional body to cover a wider sector which will include Further Education, Work Based Learning and Teaching Assistants. The consultation documents also seeks your views on whether other members within the education profession who contribute to the development of children and young people such as youth workers and other support staff should also be able to register.

The Welsh Government has just released application forms for the Higher Level Teaching Assistant 2011 - 2012 Assessment Process. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status provides an opportunity to recognise the levels of knowledge, skills and understanding that many school support staff have and the valuable contribution that they make in schools.
