Making Contact with the Governors
- Once the adviser receives the letter of deployment from the consortium co-ordinator, she / he will contact the nominated governor to discuss more detailed arrangements for the visit.
- The external adviser should request that the school provides the following background documents for
the appointed governors to send him / her:
- Headteacher's previously set performance objectives.
- Performance evidence collected.
- Any further in-year monitoring information previously requested by the governing body.
- School performance data.
- School development / improvement plan.
- Inspection report.
- Post-inspection action plan.
- Optional headteacher self-evaluation form.
- The external adviser should try to ensure that all communications are sent to the headteacher and governors at the same time in envelopes that are clearly marked 'Confidential' and 'To be opened by the named person only'. Experience in the first cycle has indicated that it is also advisable to send the preliminary advice by recorded delivery.
