Sir Thomas Picton Family of Schools:
Developing
• Questioning And Higher Order Thinking
• Guidelines For Communication In The Classroom

Project overview

In response to the Skills Framework and LEA initiatives, schools decided to focus on the development of questioning and higher order thinking skills and to link this to shared approaches to promoting communication in the classroom. Head Teachers from of schools attended County Inset on Thinking Skills in 2006. They subsequently held an Inset day for all the staff of their schools, with an outside speaker who developed further the approaches to use of thinking skills. Selected colleagues then met to produce materials detailing a number of strategies for use in the classroom.
